In many offices there are ‘papers here, papers there, papers almost everywhere’ and it does pose problems. Never underestimate the filing of paperwork and do not consider it a necessary evil. A good filing system will save you a lot of time and energy further down the track. Creating and maintaining an appropriate filing system is the very foundation on which your business is built.

Here are some tips on how to stay on top of your filing:

  1. Adequately determine your storage needs (it is always better to over-estimate).
  2. Stick to a particular filing system - alphabetical or by category.
  3. Used clear and concise tabbed file-holders.
  4. Enable quick and easy access to your files.
  5. Use PC electronic filing where possible for documents and emails.
  6. File daily instead of letting loose documents accumulate.
